Overview
Taking your family or friends out on a catamaran — with en-suite cabins, a generator and air conditioning — is something most sailors have dreamed about. Catamarans offer exceptional space and comfort, perfect for tempting non-sailors to give sailing a go. But if you’ve never skippered one before, it can be a daunting prospect.
This 7-night course runs aboard a Lagoon 400 — a classic mid-size catamaran with 4 en-suite cabins, a generator, air conditioning, and all the usual electronics and instrumentation.
Suitable for experienced monohull sailors looking to move across to cats, or those already qualified who want professional catamaran tuition. You can also complete the RYA Day Skipper qualification during this course.

Sailing Area
We run this course from our Seafarer Training base at Nikiana in the Ionian — the perfect starting point to explore the Southern Ionian islands, and conveniently close to Preveza International Airport.
The Ionian provides usually gentle sailing conditions — light to moderate winds in protected waters with generally north-westerly prevailing winds, creating consistent and enjoyable sailing. During October the weather can be a little more changeable, adding useful variety to the experience.
Weather & Sailing Conditions
The Ionian is known for its sheltered, predictable conditions — ideal for catamaran training. Light to moderate north-westerly winds dominate, providing consistent sailing with the added opportunity of anchorages in beautiful island coves.
The Training Yacht
The Lagoon 400 is the perfect mid-size catamaran for training. With 4 en-suite cabins, a large saloon and spacious cockpit, it provides an excellent introduction to catamaran sailing.
Sail controls are led back to the helm station, which is raised to offer an excellent all-round view — particularly important when learning the twin engine characteristics during close-quarters manoeuvring. Sail & Stay
There are a multitude of ways to travel to our base on the island of Lefkada. Embarkation is from 15:00 on a Sunday, sailing the following morning.
Saturday scheduled and low-cost flights available from all major UK airports to Preveza International Airport.
Direct Seafarer transfers from Preveza International Airport take roughly 35 minutes to our base at Nikiana.
